Moonshots live in the gray area between audacious projects and pure science fiction; instead of mere 10% gains, they aim for 10x improvements. The combination of a huge problem, a radical solution, and the breakthrough technology that might just make that solution possible is the essence of a Moonshot.

Solve for X is a global initiative from Google that’s all about finding pioneers in science and technology who are working on huge game changing “Moonshots” and accelerating their progress to impact the world in positive ways. SFX is headed up by Google’s R&D division called Google [x]. Google aims to share these pioneers’ stories with the world and inspire others to drive innovation:
Solve for X started as an experimental event in February 2012 at the CordeValle Resort in San Martin, CA. Over the course of three days, forty-six top scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world came together to discuss and debate radical solutions to some really big problems using breakthrough technologies. Solve For X events have helped to advance ideas such as Google Glass, the driverless car, Project Loon (Wifi balloons) and reusable nuclear waste (Transatomic Power) to name a few.
Check out some of the diverse and disruptive moonshots featured at previous Solve for X Events.
